The Kansas Board of Regents, in cooperation with the state universities, offers health insurance for students. This voluntary
insurance is available through United Healthcare Student Resources (UHCSR).
Contracts
An employer (University) contribution towards the student-only premium is provided to Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs),
Graduate Research Assistants (GRAs), and Graduate Assistants (GAs) who meet
eligibility requirements.
Students with scholarships/fellowships or who otherwise do not meet eligibility requirements for the GSHI plan may be eligible
for the regular student plan. Information about the regular student plan may be obtained at

2012/2013 Plan Year (August 1, 2012 through July 31, 2013)
The health insurance policy year is from August 1 through July 31 of each year.
Coverage periods are:
Fall: August 1 through December 31
Spring: January 1 through May 31
Summer: June 1 through July 31
It is the student's responsibility to apply/renew insurance each semester. Premium will be accepted by semester/coverage period only. Eligibility requirements must be met each
semester/coverage period.
Effective date of coverage:
Open Enrollment: If eligibility requirements are met and the on-line enrollment is completed during open enrollment, health insurance will be effective as follows:

Enrollment after the end of open enrollment: GSHI coverage can be elected at any time during the semester after the open enrollment period ends by completing the on-line enrollment process. If eligibility requirements are met, coverage will be effective the date the on-line enrollment is received by UHCSR.
